I specialize in treating those suffering from depression, anxiety disorders, chronic pain, and relationship issues. I utilize Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) and CBT as well as relaxation techniques, acceptance and mindfulness, and pain management techniques.
Individual therapy involves one therapist and one client, and is the most popular form of therapy. In individual therapy you will work with me on the core issues you believe to be interfering in your life, holding you back from happiness, and keeping you from reaching your personal, career and emotional goals. You will work with me collaboratively to challenge unhealthy beliefs and maladaptive behaviors and replace them with new, healthy adaptive beliefs and behaviors. This will help you to increase your effectiveness and satisfaction with work, love and life, to live successfully with others, and to enhance your emotional health and personal welfare.
I utilize an action-oriented approach, called Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), which was founded by Dr. Albert Ellis in 1955. REBT is a form of Cognitive Behavior Therapy designed to assist clients with their cognitive, emotional, and behavioral lives. According to REBT and CBT, it is largely the way we think about events that leads to emotional and behavioral upset. With an emphasis on the present, you will learn how to examine and challenge unhelpful thinking, which creates unhealthy emotions and self-defeating behaviors. Ultimately, REBT and CBT will help you to develop a healthy philosophy and approach to living that can increase your effectiveness and satisfaction at work, in living successfully with others, in parenting and educational settings, in making your community and environment healthier, and in enhancing your own emotional health and personal welfare.
Couples therapy involves a therapist and a couple working together to identify core issues, to learn how to resolve conflict, to become skilled at effective communication strategies and problem-solving, and to restore and build intimacy. You will work with me to challenge your unhealthy beliefs and maladaptive behaviors and replace them with healthy adaptive beliefs and behaviors in order to shape your love relationship in a new and healthy way.
